have seen in old indian movie mum-in-laws torturing women for not delivering them baby boys/girls? i mean..how are the women supposedly responsible for the babies gender? is there any age old myth concerning the same? seems to be like an 'indian' belief?

it's not just that culture that felt that way...throughout history the WOMAN was deemed responsible for the sex of her child. and 'failing' to produce an heir to carry on the family name was looked down on.
it's barbaric.
as we all know today, it's the FATHER that determines the sex of the baby.
