What is the best age to start telling your kids about sex education?

I have a 7 and 9 year old and they are starting to ask about various parts of the body, how babies are made and so on. What topics are age appropriate. I would rather tell them then to have them learn from some person, say other classmates or whatever that don't truly understand the whole concept of sex.

If you don't want them to find out about it from someone else, then I would start telling them as soon as they start asking, or else they might ask someone else.
